Inside the Box – Novel Tea Club {January}

Hello Friends!

Novel Tea Club was the first bookish subscription box I ever subscribed to and they have been wonderful! They are still new, and small, so they went through some learning curves and growing pains but I think they have come out alright!  Based here in Vancouver, BC and shipping out of the USA, they include small business and locally sourced items along with their chosen book. Novel Tea Club has three different themes you can subscribe to, Romance, Fantasy and YA. I have gotten Fantasy and YA boxes in the past. Most of the time, there are three different novels sent but sometimes (like January) the same novel fits two of the genres, all other items will be the same.

My January box is the YA genre and features Jenna-Lynne Duncan’s Blue Tide! Along with the book we received a signed promotional book mark which is absolutely beautiful as well as a signed book-plate! This is the first time I’ve ever had a book-plate, so I am not really quite sure what to do with it! Suggestions? I’m nearly a third of the way through the book now and I’m enjoying it so far! Here’s the synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old refugee Lux plots her escape from the island where her family is stranded, wp-1485917948125.jpgdenying that her home was lost in the Floods. Lux is determined to get her old life back by any means possible. But before her feet even leave the sand, she’s taken hostage by a vengeance-driven pirate nearly as young as she is. Her capture is the key to his freedom…Captain Draven’s scarf veils more than his face. Underneath, he struggles between morality and survival. When Lux sees deeper into his motivations, she’s torn. She can commit mutiny to escape to a home that may no longer exist, or she can try to help Draven escape the clutches of the person responsible for the deaths of half the world. Staying would mean entrusting her life to a pirate. Helping Draven would mean losing her heart to one.

The tea we received is Winter Wonderland from Cozy Leaf, who sources the majority of their handcrafted teas from local US Farmers! We received Winter Wonderland which is a blend of cinnamon spice and soft chamomile with a hint of clove, orange and elderberry. It smells divine and I can’t wait to brew a cup! Luckily, NTC thought about that and included a ball steeper! They think of everything!

Also in the box were some very cute bookish pencils! The green one says “Bibliophile” and the white, “Read More Books”. I’ve already brought them to work with me so I can use them and gaze at them sitting prettily on my desk. I haven’t decided what to do with the New Beginnings mini print (with box notes on the back) but I think it would either look nice in a frame on your shelves or stuck on a picture board. Lastly, we have the February Teaser mini print, which is also adorable and features a 207 calendar on the back! I’ve already given it a spot on my desk and used a jumbo binder clip as a stand!

This box came a little late in the month for my liking (Feb 28th!) but I don’t think that’s a fault by NTC, it probably got help up by USPS as the border. If you are thinking about subscribing to Novel Tea Club you can do that here, and don’t forget to use promo code NTMB10 for 10% off your first box!

February’s Theme is Be My Honey!

xx J

P.S. The Romance & Fantasy boxes included HeartStone by Elle Katharine White

P.P.S. Is it weird I was really excited that the author has the same name as me? Not the Lynne part, just Jenna. Also, am I the only one who will buy books by “Jenna” authors and following “Jenna” people on Instagram and stuff?  Yes? Oh… haha… (good thing my name isn’t something more common!)
